The Toyota Supra is a fantastic classic sports car and loved by many, I’ve owned several of them over the last 7 years, they are
fast, stylish and really good fun to drive. Although they are looking rather dated by today’s standards there are still a lot of Toyota Supras for sale and lots of buyers!

This car was first introduced by Toyota back in 1979 and they continued its production all the way up until 2002. It’s actually based on the Toyota Celica and some people can get confused with the older models, but the Supra is definitely longer and wider. It’s also got a more powerful engine that will give anyone a kick. It soon lost its Celica association in 1986 when they brought out the MKIII version, at this time it became its own model and was not based around the Celica anymore. It also lost the name ‘Celica Supra’ and became the famous ‘Supra’, good job too, as this car well deserves its own status!
You would have seen the Toyota Supra in many big films like “The Fast and The Furious” and computer games such as Gran Turismo & Need For Speed. The Supra’s engine was heavily based on the 2000GT and all of them were produced with powerful 6 cylinder engines. These engines are capable of delivering up to a nice 220 BHP plus they also produced the twin turbo version, which was even faster and offered up to a stunning 320 BHP (now we’re talking). You can get them in manual short shift 5 speeds plus there is a 4 speed automatic version. Personally I would rather have the manual version any day of the week.
You can also enjoy the sports suspension which offers a firm but comfortable ride and is like rails around the corners. Plus with the addition of leather interior, air con, traction control and big 17 inch alloy wheels, you have one heck of a car!
The Supra’s come in a streamlined two door body and look great from all angles, they are also the first car from Toyota to be electronically fuel injected, plus the first to have antilock braking and a turbo engine.
Sadly Toyota stopped production of the Supra in the United States in 1999 and in Japan production ceased in 2002, but it has become an icon in the sports car world and many people are crazy about them. It’s therefore not surprising that so many people are looking for a Toyota Supra for sale, there are also many owners clubs and events still run for these cars, plus many people use them as track cars.

If you can find one in good condition then you can have a lot of fun with them, some people buy them up and restore them. As
the older models in particular are seen as classic cars, they can be worth a lot of money. The Supra has also won many awards over its time for best performance, design and drivability.
Toyota overall have a reputation for delivering high performance quality cars and if you are looking for a Toyota Supra for sale you can’t go wrong. I’ve owned several over the years and they have all been fantastic, but my favourite is definitely the MK IV with the twin turbo engine, its fun to drive, looks great, handles well and goes like stink!
I hope you find the right Supra for you and have as much fun driving it as I do!
